Flip a coin. But do not focus on whether it comes up heads or tails.

Instead, focus on the moment the coin went into the air. What were you hoping would happen? Were you hoping it would be tails and that the universe is telling you to stay with your beautiful partner? Or were you hoping it would be heads, to take a risk on that new job venture? Believe me, you already know what you want. Bring the answer into your consciousness!

这两句话是需要放在一起的 (也不是所有的美国人写作都很严谨)。这里的 that 指的是跟女朋友的恋情，因为回复请人的那份新工作就一句话的事，不会跟雇主 sort it out。需要 sort out 得是诸如 "爱我就跟我走"、"爱我就别走"等等。等到这些都理清了，人家早就雇用别人了! 不幸的是，这理清的爱情是发现原来你不是那么爱我。
现在女朋友早就飞了! NASCAR 的工作机会也更是在我们分手前就飞了!
by the time 是用另外一个不同的事情来 reference 时间，所以 that 不能是 NASCAR 的工作机会。Therefore 'that' has to reference something else and the closest thing to this sentence is 'The girl is long-gone.'
这句 "was sorted out" 含有的意思是，他们两人因著 男方有外地工作的机会起了不同意见的争执，所以需要 sort out。女方可以说爱我就别离开我，男的说爱我就跟我走。也许女方自己有很好的事业、家人或环境，不愿意放弃等等。等到双方都明白了彼此不愿为对方放下什么，"事情就有了个结果" 那就是分手了，而大好的工作机会也早有别人占去了。

这里作者是不是想说nothing to do with的，typo了？另外，后面的averages应该是指大家的平均水平吧，不是指平庸。

大月的翻译一看就是大月的风格嗷！我这边不方便做对比，只能上下拉着帖子看，就大致看下讲下哈！

以前有个翻译老师跟我们讲说，如果你翻译的时候发现句子很长，那基本上就可以重来了（结果听了这句话，我翻译越来越长了有木有，完全停不下来啊！）。一开头就看见这两句，如果是单独一篇译文放在那里，读起来的感觉就是不流畅。我们追求的目标是（好难），可以通篇读下来，没有理解的障碍，不需要你停下来去想，读完了以后又能有所得，不会什么都忘了（真的好难）。觉得大月翻译的时候可以注意下，句子适当拆拆（真的真的好难，我造的）。

首先非常感謝Sonia大美女的耐心指導
不過有的地方我還是持保留意見。首先，我想說下我的翻譯手法，我並不是字字對照直譯，而是夾意譯與編譯，主要在於傳達作業的想法，而不是轉變語言形式（我會說其實是我想避免我不會譯的部分嘛。。。）。不過，由於是我自己的理解，因此有些地方或許欠妥。
失不再來就是指當初的工作機會已經失去且再難獲得之意。
其實根本就沒有be worthy to do這一用法哦，至少詞典上暫時沒有，只有worthy of sb./sth.。所以這裡並不是短語，因此需要從worthy本身著手，迴歸worth本身，然後把後面to do看作目的。
Typo無疑。averages確實是平均水平，而平均水平就是普通、尋常而不突出，而大部分人正處於平均水平，皆平庸之輩，因此我直接用平庸（平庸是中性詞）。
額，這個是我看漏了。。。
如果要我翻譯我的中文譯文，會添加instead。不知道說清了沒，也就是說，如果把我這句和前句連起來，中國人都可以看出轉折含義，因為中文本身邏輯是隱含的，只是在引進英文後，故意把邏輯挑明，雖然不算多此一舉，但隱含邏輯也無傷大雅。不過這句主要成分確實有些問題，你的譯文意思都表達準確了，但屬於英文句式結構。我稍意譯一下：注意體會拋硬幣的那一瞬。
最後，翻譯中，“度”的把握問題一直糾纏不清，因為“度”這一概念本身也模糊不清，每個人心中自有一個“度”，因此，一般認為，只要遵從原文事實便可，至於是否“過度”，就看各自對文章的理解以及大眾的接受度了。

在回复大月都翻译时我想到了 一点，The girl is long-gone. As was the NASCAR opportunity by the time that was sorted out. 这一句的as was是否可以理解为，就像当时的那个被放弃掉的工作机会一样。
worthy就是从单词本身去理解的，具体怎么翻译待商榷，不过总体上还是表达的能力与职位不相称的意思。或者理解为，我做不来梦寐以求的那份工作？

因為我覺得我中文太差了，想裝一下高大上
或許可以文藝一點，工作把我拋棄了。但是，個人認為，失去工作機會應該是在女朋友離開之前，所以我喜歡“失不再來”
容許我耍下無賴。。。不相信自己的價值就是說自己的能力與職位不相稱。。。
做翻譯要從篇章著手，再沒有篇章的情況下不得已才從句子本身著手，但最忌諱只考慮單個的詞。
