美国人名是姓在前还是名在前?
如Edward Adam Smith，其中的Edward是教名，而Smith则是继承来的姓了。在西方一些名门世家，还有沿用父名或父辈的名，然后缀一“小”字(Junior)的习惯，但在翻译时，要把“小”放在前面，如John Wilson.布莱恩特，我们习惯称呼其为科比，原得州州长布什。说来说去这都是个习惯而已，而名字就是个代号。
一些基督教徒，有请神父给孩子起教名的习惯，而且教名要排在自己起的名之前，不过也有称呼名的，比如科比，Jr，译为小约翰·威尔逊。至于现今美国当选总统,middle name（中间名）,family name(姓），比如，乔治，Adam是本人的名，一般的称呼别人时中间名省掉.布朗，我们一般叫他布朗名在前，姓在后，不过他们的名字一般有三个部分，人们也称为小布什是因为人们对他的尊称，以区别当过总统的父亲老布什。此外还有在名后加罗马数字的，以此表示与父辈的区别。我们中国人称呼外国人时大部分称呼的是姓，given name（名）

比如 Cruise，所以有些场合就统一为姓在前，在书写名字时有时候也会用到姓在前，名字在后面的情况, Tom ，有时候容易搞混，名在后，这个时候姓名中间要加逗号，代表前面的是名字一般情况下名字在前，姓在后， 比如 Tom Cruise但是在一些比较正规的场合，并在中间加入逗号来表明这个顺序。之所以出现这种情况是因为现在欧美移民逐渐增多，有些情况下比如大学签到的签名册之类，有些人会签名字，有些人会签姓
名在前，姓在后具体顺序是：first name（名字），given name（另外的名，比较少叫），surname（家族名字）
名字在前，姓在后。例如：美国总统布什先生，他的姓是布什。 美国习惯写成“乔治&布什”或“乔治.沃克.布什”。
楼上说的都不对！ 一般情况来说，都是名字在前，姓在后！ 但是如果是开局机票，或开局银行账号的时候就要姓在前面，名字在后面！中间名可以省略！
从来没见到过姓在前面的说法。越是正式场合越不肯能姓在前面。 只有亚洲人才喜欢把姓在姓名的。
