1．从OSI体系结构来看，集线器属于第一层物理层设备，而交换机属于OSI的第二层**链路层设备。也就是说集线器只是对**的传输起到同步、放掸籂侧饺乇祭岔熄唱陇大和整形的作用，对于**传输中的短帧=碎片等无法进行有效的处理，不能保**传输的完整性和正确性；而交换机不但可以对**的传输做到同步、放大和整形，而且可以过滤短帧、碎片等。

请教一下esxi5中NPIV的设置问题，
我通过配置设置了NPIV，并生成了1个WWNN和1个WWPN，但是在光纤交换机上配置zone的时候，为什么看不到之前生成的WWNN或者WWPN，这样就不能进行LUN的映射，不知道是哪儿操作的问题，请教各位大大。
我的运行环境：DELL服务器上有两块qlogic的HBA卡，分别连接两台博科光纤交换机
系统esxi5.1 ，存储是台湾的
VM不能指定通过其中的某一块HBA进行NPIV的配置么？
看之前的帖子，有点疑惑，有位大大说：要使用NPIV,前提是RDM,光NPIV,不用RDM是不行的
NPIV不是相互独立的么，为什么使用NPIV,前提是RDM？

请具体描述你的环境。
Fc-San里面最麻烦的是所谓的匹配复杂性：从Os-驱动-HBA-switch-storage全都要兼容，而且针对特定Feature有可能有差异。不同厂商组件差别是很大的。

主要是DELL服务器上跑的esxi应用，qlogic的HBA卡，博科光交，存储是台湾OEM的

建议弄清楚为什么要用NPIV，想用NPIV解决你环境中的什么问题。再考虑怎么用。
&&1. NPIV may help you meet a security objective or requirements by permitting zoning and masking of a virtual machine directly with its storage.
&&2. NPIV may permit virtual machines certain Quality of Service (QoS) and prioritization features by being directly accessible to storage via a routable WWN
&&3. To use NPIV, both the Host Bus Adapters and Fibre Channel switch must be NPIV compatible
&&4. An FC fabric switch is required. Direct Attached Systems are not compatible.
&&5. Only certain Emulex and Qlogic HBAs are supported by VMware for use with NPIV. Verify compatibility before integrating: VMware IO Device Compatibility
&&6. vSphere 5 does not support heterogenous Host Bus Adapter configurations in a single ESXi host with NPIV
&&7. vMotion is only compatible with NPIV when using Raw Device Mappings (RDM). You do not get the benefits of VMFS when using an RDM. Keep the RDM on the same datastore as the VM configuration file.
&&8. An NPIV WWN is not permanently tied to a physical HBA – When a virtual machine is vMotioned from a host with NPIV enabled to another NPIV enabled host, the WWN travels from one HBA to another without reconfiguration. Switch reconfiguration is not required at this point however HBAs from both physical hosts must have access to the same storage array.
&&9. You cannot use an NPIV RDM with Storage vMotion
&&10. Remember to mask and zone all hosts that will participate in vMotion for an NPIV connected RDM.
&&11. An RDM must be preconfigured, zoned and masked directly to the physical HBA using soft/hard zoning before configuring Virtual Machine VPORTS/WWPNs.
&&12. Up to 16 WWNs can be assigned to Virtual Machines residing on an ESXi vSphere 5 host.
&&13. A minimum of 2 WWNs are required for failover.
&&14. RDMs should reside on the same datastore as the VMware .vmx configuration file

是需要先配置好RDM才能继续配置NPIV？
这和微软的不同，微软的直接可以指定某一块HBA卡进行NPIV的配置。
请教一下，VMWARE的不同之处在哪些地方呢？

不是通过命令,你在一个虚拟机上配置NPIV的话,在你的光纤交换机上,正常是可以看到WWPN WWNN的,你使用NPIV前是要用RDM的,光NPIV不能使用

是要先通过RDM配置裸映射后，才能通过光交看到虚拟的wwn，对吧？
我测试了一下，配置了裸映射，光交上也没有虚拟的wwn，是怎么回事呢？
有一点不明白，既然通过rdm已经将lun挂到虚拟机上了，就没有设置NPIV的需要了吧，那这样配置NPIV的效果是什么呢？

现在是在排错，你还是老老实实用Brocade的命令行
自己不熟或者心里没底，就找Brocade或者供应商来支持。

是指2个WWNN，还是2个WWPN？

wwwnn是每块卡一个，他的意思是 要想实现failover 至少需要两块hba卡，而不是一块卡上的2个端口
