当然不能选it.正如你所说,after是介词,后面接的是宾语.介宾短语做修饰.——————seemed a long time后面缺少主语,what可以在宾语从句做主语,符合题意.而如果选择了it,后面成了一个完整的句子.英语语法中不存在介词+完整句子的形式.如果把after去掉了,将这句话逗号改为句号.才可以选it.
那如果after作连词呢
